'Hi Galvin2401,
Since one port is working on your computer, it could be an issue with the port itself. However, Use Device Manager to disable and re-enable all the USB controllers. This lets the controllers recover the USB port from its unresponsive condition
1.ClickStart, Type devmgmt.msc, and then clickOK. Device Manager opens.
2.ExpandUniversalSerial Bus controllers.
Note You might have to scroll down the list to find this item.
Rdp tcp windows 10. 3.Right-click the first USB controller underUniversal Serial Bus controllers, and then clickUninstall to remove it.
4.Repeat step 3 for each USB controller that is listed underUniversal Serial Bus controllers. Casio fx 82ms user guide.
5.Restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.
6.Check the USB device to see whether it is working.
If this does not help you may try to update the BIOS and chipset drivers from your computer manufacturer’s website.'
How-To Geek Forums / Windows XPreinstalling usb ports to device manager(21 posts)
i have uninstalled (by accident) the usb ports from either the registry or device manager.
nothing will work through the usb. the printer, card reader nothing. can you help??? i have installed sp2
Type DEV into the Start search > open Device Manager (above) > double click on 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' (last entry) > then you can double click on everything on the list, click the 'Driver' button and 'Update driver'
and if you have the disks that came with the printer etc, the drivers should be on them
there is no universal serial bus controllers it's been completely removed. device manager has
nothing in it which says usb
lighthouse i have have all disks for the devices but the usb ports might aswell not be there
it's bizzare just can't understand it.
Looks like you did a thorough job removing it. Hmm, have to think about that. Did you reboot since the unfortunate event? Facebook hacking passwords software. If no, try that first.
yep i've tried all sorts it's just not there. i have system restored, formatted the drives, reinstalled
windows everything apart from made love to the machine.
Looks like you have to get an update for your BIOS. That you can only get from your PC manufacturer.
can't find it in BIOS to enable or disable it's weird
Maybe you can find an update from the manufacturer of your motherboard.
how do i go about that it's a old board with a pentium 3???
Old or new does not matter. Just go to the MS manufacturers website (e.g. Asus or whatever you have) and see whether they have a Bios driver for your board. This for example is one of the Asus download sites (there are more) from where you can download Asus Bios drivers: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
this sounds really stupid but i'm not sure who manufactured it how do i find out?
Now you lost me too. I'd look either in the Bios or on the board itself. You need to find the model info too. Probably need good boyscout skills.
I just read this on another thread. Maybe that can help you.
'There is a jumper on the mobo that can be used to clear out the CMOS and reset the BIOS. If I remember correctly, it's the only jumper on the board, so all you need to do is unplug the PC, move the jumper from it's current position over one pin (there are three pins, so move it from pins 1 & 2 over to 2 & 3), give it a five count then return it to it's original position (very important), plug it in and power it up.'
tried that it hasn't worked. really p#ssed about it any other suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. i'm off to the pub for a pint will check when i get back.
Sharp aquos pen software. You can find out what your m/b is, but you may have to take it out
or you can try this http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html
i've had a look lighthouse looks like a data recovery program, would that work when the
problem is that the mobo isn't registering the usb's attatched to it
No, just down a bit on the left, where it says 'SIW with installer'
